Pet-Friendly Leavenworth
If you travel with your four-footed family members then Leavenworth is a great place for your family vacation. On warm days you’ll find bowls of water in front of Front Street businesses, waiting to provide refreshment for dogs of all shape and sizes. Visitors from all over the country find a welcoming atmosphere for their furry travel companions.
You’ll have no problems finding lodging that will accept your pet as a guest. In Leavenworth you’ll find pet-friendly lodging of all varieties from cabins to motels and hotels. Some lodgings charge extra for your pet. Others don’t charge for your pet but may restrict where they’re allowed to sleep. According to BringFido.com the Bavarian Ritz allows 2 dogs of any size to stay in room for no fee.

Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort also has pet accommodations at no extra charge. Their Canine Companion rooms feature extra amenities for your pet including a dog bed, water and food bowls, and doggie treats. The grounds at Sleeping Lady are beautiful and will provide you and your leashed pet with great together time on their walking paths.
While in town be sure you go by A Paw Above. They’re a pet and pet lover’s dream boutique. They have gourmet doggie treats, organic pet food, pet toys and a wide selection of doggie backpacks, saddlebags and pet strollers. They even have lederhosen and dirndl skirts for the stylish Bavarian pooch.
At one of our favorite stops, the Gingerbread Factory, you’ll find house baked doggie treats. And if you’re in Leavenworth at Christmas time you can take home a Gingerbread Dog House. Or order from their online store.
Because you have your pet with you doesn’t mean that you’ll be relegated to take-out meals. Several restaurants have outdoor seating where pets are welcome. Der Hinterhof has an outdoor beer garden that is family- and dog-friendly.
Munchen Haus is another outdoor venue. Delicious dogs (no not that kind!) and kraut and several German beers on tap. It has live music a lot of the time and it’s dog friendly!
SOUTH is fresh Mexican and one of our favorite dining spots in Leavenworth. They too have some patio seating where dogs are permitted.
Leavenworth is full of activities for the whole family, including the family dog. Leavenworth Outdoor Center provides affordable, self-guided, float tube rentals where dogs are welcome and encouraged to join the fun. You can take your dog hiking on many trails around Leavenworth, but be aware of bear, cougar and other wild life in the area. And note that dogs are prohibited in the Enchantment Wilderness Area to protect wildlife and water quality.
The Bavarian Village Veterinarian is there if your pets need help.
